Maus

The graphic novel Maus is a new revolution in literature, this book bring to comic books to a new level and new perspective. This novel that is like a comic book is not about super heroes or a fantastic adventure in the robot world, this book is about a real event in life with character that could be real, except for the part that they are animals in human form, but this also have a symbolic meaning.
The graphic novel is at his name describe , the story is a novel of about 300 pages in form and with illustration of comic books. This concept will be more appealing to younger readers who gets easily bored my long and extensive reading like a common novel. This book is a mix of narrative and picture that will entertain and at the same time complement the reading.
This graphic novel have two main characters, one is Vladek a Jew survivor of the German invasion and the other main character is his son Archie who is a cartoonist and want to make book in form of a comic of the story of his father. The first volume of the book revolve more about Vladek and how he survive during the second World War. He narrate to his son Archie all about his life in Europe before arriving to America, how he meet the love of his live and how he struggle to survive in the Ghettos. From the first volume to the end of the book there is also the live of Archie and his bad relation with his old father. Archie want o make a book about the story of Vladek when his was in Europe, and for this reason his start to spend time with him, but the shadow his dead mother do not permit Archie to come in terms with his father.
The story of the book is really great and I enjoy it reading it because of this new type of literature, I hope that many boring books that tell great story and event could learn a little of this style.

Blogging or Suffering
My blooging experience has been really good, I have enjoy reading the literature and posting my analysis of the reading. This a good activity for expressing ourselves and give our personal opinion of what we read in class. Not only we express ourselves but you can also see the opinion of other classmate . After revising other classmate opinion you can comment about what your classmate have post. In the same way others can comment about what you have post in order to improve your writing.
I think that my writing have improve and that my methods of analyzing lecture have improve also. I really don t like to write things or make essays but this have been a good experience . I hope not to this king a job again because it consume time that I need for other classes. I really do not know what more to write because I have write to much in this bog and hopefully this will be the last blog. This last sentences may look like is contradictory with the first paragraph but one thing is to like what your doing and other thing is to acquire a good experience of what you have done.

Butterflys Were Not Always Beautiful

The drama of this play really shocked me from the beginning to the end of the play. At first I though of this play as a humorous one but as the story continued it transformed to a sad one. Above the real event of the history of the world this play represent and above the interpretation of the relation of the west and the east , what It truly felt of this play was the tragedy of Gallimard.
In life there is nothing more painful than the pain of love. Gallimard suffer the greatest atrocity that can be done to a person who is truly in love. This men fell in love of what he considered to be the perfect woman, Chinese woman who was an opera actress. Gallimard was a men who constantly doubted of his masculinity so he first married a woman who was not that attractive and because of her history hardly any man could felt in love with her, and Gallimard was not the exception. Gallimard went to a Chinese Opera title M. Butterfly, and opera that he always like because he always wished to be the very masculine Pikerton who married a Chinese woman that was very submissive. Gallimard felt in love with the actress who played Cio-Cio Sang, called Song Liling. Gallimard saw in in Song that submissive woman and they started an affair. During their relation Gallimard never saw Song naked because she was very shy but she sometime please him in other ways that do not involve in penetration. They were both in love but Song always showed herself very interested in in Gallimards work as a diplomat in the government and she made Gallimard to retrieve for her important file about the United State war movement in Vietnam.
The tragic part comes now the part that shock me and made me felt sad. After twenty years of, love romance and desperation Gallimard was accused of giving secret information to a Chinese spy. Gallimar was send to the court were he learn a very painful truth, but it was also a truth that he somewhere hidden in his heart always new. In the court Gallimard met the real Song, Song was a spy for the Chinese and use Gallimard to obtain secret information of the government, but that was not all, Song was a men, a men who really felt in love of Gallimard and after all he wanted to be with him. Gallimard was devastated and he decided to live in the fantasy were his Butterfly existed. Gallimard was sent to jail and after many years he decided that he could not longer live in shame and kill himself.
Gallimard suffered humiliation and betrayal by loving a woman that never existed he ended up having the same faith as Cio-Cio Sang in the Chinese Opera, the faith of the woman he always wanted.

What can I choose: TV or book?

When I read Sienfield on the script I found it a little funny, by reading it i could imagine how the act was going to be and the setting, but when I saw the show, for me was much better. The show was more humorous than the script and i could understand the plot better . It seems that what really make this play more humorous are not only the words but also the expression and the appearance the actors project on the show. It is true that by reading the script you can use more your imagination and that may be the way that you imagine the things by reading the script are not the same as when the put all the image and all the setting in the show. But in the case of these play the script was for me only words that needed more life, words that could not be independent. this word needed the expression given in the show.

There also other cases when people like book better than the movie, may be because the story of in the book is more completed, it may have more details about something, some character in the book are in one way and in the movie they because of the character seems different as the way you imagine it in the book. I personally believe that there are books that much better than the movies they made of it and there are movies that are much better than their books.

Sunset are inevitable

In the poem called Acceptance by Robert Frost , the author try to present his massage using nature, by using the sunset and the inevitable coming of the night of every day we have to accept it like we have to accept the thing that occur in our live. When the poet say : " When the spent sun throws up its rays on cloud And goes down burning into the gulf below, No voice in nature is heard to cry aloud At what has happened." The poet by using the sunset as something inevitable he is representing the thing s that occur in our live daily. The author also try to said that we have to be like the nature in the way that they do not cry for the things that happen. The poet say: "Birds, at least must know It is the change to darkness in the sky. Murmuring something quiet in her breast, One bird begins to close a faded eye; Or overtaken too far from his nest, Hurrying low above the grove, some waif Swoops just in time to his remembered tree. At most he thinks or twitters softly, 'Safe!", in here the poet use the birds as an example that when the night come they do what they must do to survive for what is inevitable , the same thing that with have to do with our live. Now let the night be dark for all of me. Let the night bee too dark for me to see Into the future. Let what will be, be.' " In this part the author conclude what he is presenting about accepting live as it is and continue on.

Black Girl

The poem "What it's like to be a black girl (for those of you who Aren't) of Patricia Smith is a poem about the life of a nine year old black girl who is describing how is her life, "First of all, it's being nine year old and feeling you' not finished..." . By reading the poem you learn that she fills miserable and not completed "it's like there's something, everything, wrong. it's dropping food coloring in your eye to make them blue and suffering...". This is because she is being abused sexually by a men" it's sweat and Vaseline and bullets, it's growing tall wearing a lot of white" . The poem is about a nine year old ho fills miserable because she is being sexually abuse by a man, we can see in the last cited sentence tha the men uses Vaseline and a condom to penetrate the girl. "it's life according to motown", this represent the style of life that is sing in the soul music .

Poet

When a poet wrote have to choice and order words and use a tone, and all that is called diction. A poetic diction use elevated language instead of ordinary language and has several levels of diction. The formal diction is the use of elevated language; middle diction is a less formal level of language; and informal diction uses a conversational manner as dialect or jargon. Also the meaning of the word is important in a poem, the denotations and connotations. In “The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner”, the words of the poem have denotation and the reader has to decipher to what poem refer to and the tone is serious. In “she being Brand” the author manages the automobile jargon but the denotation is referring to sex and the jargon creates a humorous mood. _________________________________________________________________

Live or not live? That is the question

The story Eveline is one of those stories that you may wish to go inside it, grab the girl’s head and shake some sense of selfrespect out of her. The story begins with this young woman named Eveline who was sat at her window and was thinking about leaving her house. After that she began to think about her childhood memories, about her friends and neighbors, her life when her mother was alive and the field were she use to play with her friends.. For her everything has changed because in that field a man build a house, some friends have died and other left to other countries., one of her brother left the house and another died but more importantly her mother died.
When her mother was alive the family was united and very happy, and the father was very kind back then. When her mother was dying, Eveline made a promise to her that she was going to maintain the home together as long as she could. After the mother died Eveline took care about her little brothers, her father and worked at a store. The second oldest brother left the house and went to an other country. Eveline became the heart of the family, her father after the death of his wife, became a harsh man and he did not treat well Eveline. Then she felt in love of a sailor named Frank, he was a very good man and love Eveline. Her father did not consented the relation and they have to meet secretly. Frank propose to her to leave in another country to be married and start a new life. Eveline knew that I she went with him she would be respected and was going to have better life. In the last t moment of the stories she went with her Frank to the port, but at the last second she refuse to go with him and decided to stay.
Many people will wonder why. Why she did not live?. Eveline had a harsh live, she have to take care of two little brother and have to work to maintain the family and his old man, for what?, to take crap from his old man everyday. What about her life, her feelings and her dignity? I think that Eveline did not leave her house because of many things. Some of it could be that she wanted to maintain her promise with her mother, she wanted to maintain the family united and because she may fear a new life in a new land and she wanted to be were her memories come from and with the people that know her. Another reason could be that she did not love Frank or her feelings were not that strong to go with him.

John, a Goodman who lost his Faith

At the moment I read in the story about Salem, one thing came to my mind "witches". The story begins with John Goodman Brown saying goodbye to his wife, named Faith. there both were sad because John tell to Faith that he have to leave the village, not for long, because he had to take care about something. Because they were only three month married a though that he was going to see another woman in the woods or something like that and he was filing sad betraying his good Faith. But that was no the case , John went to the forest to meet with this old guy in other to be initiated in some cult. This is when the strange part begins, the old man in his appearance could be like the father of John but this person not only guide the father of John throw the forest, he also guided John’s Grandfather. The staff that the old man have resembling a snake was also rare too, because this people were Puritans and having something like that was something from the Devil. And actually the Devil he was, when Goody Cloyse approached and said that the old man was the devil, then he say something about they were good friends. John then learn that the woman who taught him catechism was part of the cult of the Devil and she then mysteriously disappear in thin air. Learning that Goody Cloyse was indeed "Baddy" Cloyse , John began to feel uneasy , and felt, I think, betrayed or that he's believed have abandoned him and then he decided to not go any further. The old man disappear, then John heard horses and steps, he hide himself and saw the Deacon and the Reverend. He learn that they were too par of the cult and that a young was going be initiated. Later in the story he saw Faith in the cult and she was the young girl that was going be initiated along with John. He Felt that all was lost , an strange force make John go to the altar were Faith was , John try to convince Faith to go back but she did not listen and both were given the sign of the devil. The next day John awake in the woods and wonder if what he experienced was a dream or not. After reentering the village he felt that all that was real and live his live with Faith with deep sorrow because of lie he was living and die of old aged with grandchildren with any hope.
For me this story represented the lost of a men's faith. This could resemble the dark time in North America when there was the witch hunt. There were rumors that the one who control this cults were the heads of the village like the reverend, they make this cult to make pagans activities and the hunt of the witches was an excuse to kill innocent women who new the truth about it and they threaten the head of the village of exposing them. John represent the men who was betrayed by those who taught him the things that he most value, his faith, and he live the rest of his live without faith and without hope

Good Killers Are Hard to Find

This story at first I considered like a comedy, first we have this manipulative grandmother who wanted to go to Tennessee and always trying to get in the good side of the people by saying to them, that they are good men. And more funny than that she even said to a cold blooded killer called himself Misfit that he was a good man. . If he is a good men then I should be considered a saint or even meant to be the next Pope. I Also though that she had a mental disorder because she wanted to go to house in Georgia but then she realize that that house was in Tennessee. The other character is the son of the old hag named Bailey, ho is sour like a lemon and for him what is good for him is good to everybody, if he say the family was going to Florida, everyone has to go to Florida even if it meant to die by a killer. Then we have the wife of Bailey, for me this was a very interesting character because I could not find the difference between her and a baby's car seat, I think that she was mute o something like that because I can not recall her speaking in the story and she was always carrying the baby. But one thing is for sure, as a baby's car seat she can not be trusted because she was the only one thrown out of the car in the accident but thankfully she and the baby made it alive, but not for long because she was not bullet proof. And the last two character were June Star and John Wesley, now this kids were something out of this world or maybe to deep inside the gate of hell, I swear that this kids have, instead of the numbers of 666(the mark of the beast) in their head, they have the 6,666, they are the next generation of devilish been. This kids were unrespectfull, extremely sincere and to damn malicious. If Red Sammy asked this kids if they consider him fat, this kid will answer:" yes fatty, you are more fat than the cows you use to sell meat in this stinky and rundown restaurant". What I could expect of this brothers is that some day John Wesley will become a dictator like Hitler and maybe June Star will marry him.

Well the thing about the story is at first is very funny, but at the end it becomes very sad and confusing. For me the culprits are the grandmother for thinking of house that was not in that area and the kids that I think maybe they saw the future and because they are so evil they forced Bailey to go to the middle of nowhere. The family, in there way to the imaginary house they have car accident and the wife was thrown out of the car like garbage. Then the this three strangers arrive and the 6,666 kids start talking about the guns that they have, but the stupidest thing was said by the grandmother by confirming to one of the starnger as the Misfit. The Misfit saw this dysfunctional family and though of doing some community service by wiping them out from the face of the Earth. The last one to kill was the grandmother after saying all those "eyeliking" thing she could not save her neck, so the Misfit tell her:" say hello to my little friend" and bang, bang, bang!. Three shot to the old hag to be sure that she is dead. I really did not know that the endings was going to be so tragic and serious, but maybe that how life is, unexpected.

Confusing Hills like Drunk Elephants

The first time you read this story is like if you have not read it at all, may be you could not find the meaning of it or may be you did not notice it represent something more that the things written in the that paper. When you read it at first what you can understand from this story is that there is this American men and this girl, both are in a train station waiting, obviously, for a train. They both decide to drink beer and then the girl start talking about hills that look like white elephants. When the girl start talking about white elephant I though that the girl was already drunk or drugged and was hallucinating or something like that, but then I start thinking about how one beer could manage that effect. Later the men said to the girl about a simple operation, that she would be find that she only have to let the air enter, and that other people have done it and after that they were happy. The men said to the girl that she did not have to go through the operation if she did not wanted but I though that deep inside he wanted . At the end of the story they are both ready to board the train that arrive in five minutes.
The conclusion that you could have from this story is that the American was a child lover and the girl was with him because of the money and they were both chunky and alcoholics and that the American wanted to use the girl as donkey to make her swallow drug and the opened her to extract the drug after reaching their destination.
But when you read for a second time and you find some signs that serve of analogies for the true meaning of the story. That's when I realized that the white hills that resemble like white elephant could meant that she was pregnant. But what confirmed my hypothesis was when the men talked about an operation and that she just have to let it in the air. I thought of a type of abortion that is made by suctioning the baby in a type of vacuum. And the hole conflict of the story is that she was having second thoughts about aborting the baby and the American was more in to the abortion than her. The story have and open ending and we could not know what kind of decision she take.
By the way the storing was flowing I assume that she abort the baby after they took the train but I do not think that they live happy ever after.
